Not only can these courses help when you are stuck, but they also help develop a standard of efficiency when it comes to details and schedules and working with others. Another fantastic part of the program is being able to witness not only your own creative development, but you also get to see others develop their creative spirit.

HOW SOME OF OUR STUDENTS PERCEIVE OUR ONLINE COURSES

Meg Sweeney

Courses at Unleashyourwriting.com grab you, make you face the commitment and determination required of any writer, but not at the expense of anyone’s delicate creative spirit. Instead, each step involved in a course help participants find, then befriend, and finally let their creative muse fly free. There is always the safety net of the course leader forcing you to pay attention to habits that sabotage your writing, and also helping you build habits that lead to true productivity.

Milli wants students to be free, as creativity is. However she doesn’t ignore the subtle signs of a writer sending out an SOS. Little by little she helps students notice when they need help, and also waits until they actually do call out for help. Personally, I felt I didn’t want to bother someone with a request. However, Milli could spot a seemingly small problem, that really needed to be fully addressed before moving on to even more creative writing. She taught me that “HELP” is the most powerful four-letter word.

What is more, the quality of other participants has been exceptional. Each of my peers has a rich, mature and unique take on life. So other participants have opened the door to fresh new angles and writing styles. Each of my peers has taken time and energy to help support me. I sometimes felt that I may be out of my league in terms of experience and writing style, but instead of feeling judged by my peers, each cheered me on…even praising me on some points that I would have never noticed on my own. I really feel I have a writing family. My success is their success.

The whole course builds ingeniously upon itself, and you can see tremendous growth in your writing and expression with each assignment. It truly is a journey into the center of one’s soul…and then giving that soul a voice that begs to be heard. It even sometimes gets standing ovations. Unleash yours and let the fun begin.

Writer’s block can be a powerfully destructive force. New writers experience this plus are uncertain on how to begin or how to release their creativity, or may experience just a general fear of writing, as well. This happens for a multitude of reasons, i.e., the “I’m not good enough,” syndrome, “Who wants to read my garbage?” negative self-talk, or the mother of all excuses, “What do I have to offer that isn’t already out there?”

The unleashyourwriting.com courses offer opportunities to release a person from those debilitating non-creative chains and gives an aspiring new writer tricks to break out of the non-writing, self-imposed prison. It will also enable any person who has been writing for some time, but has come to a bump on his/her personal writing-road. Help from the course presenter is available at all times for these issues.

Not only can the courses help when you are stuck, but they also help develop a standard of efficiency when it comes to details and schedules and working with others.

Another fantastic part of the program is being able to witness not only your own creative development, but you also get to see others develop their creative spirit. Working and sharing and comparing with and replying to the other members of the “class” are actually more ways in which you grow as a writer. It is such fun to read others’ works, too, because their thought process is so different than your thought process, yet they developed a story that is interesting and enjoyable to read, and totally different than what you wrote.

The course developer makes the class work an enjoyable experience and is able to pull out writing skills you never knew you possessed. Some of the assignments are so much fun to write you feel you could write an entire book just on a simple prompt. She gives you the authority to go anywhere you want with the prompts. She does not tie you down with so much detail that you feel your imagination has been placed in a box and taped up. In fact, she desires that you “think outside the box” and when you do, she applauds and will sometimes give you such genuinely positive feedback that you never want to stop writing.

“The sky is the limit” and you will find this to be true. You will also discover that only you are holding you back.

If I don’t become a writer here, I don’t stand a chance of becoming a writer anywhere else on the planet.

Milli is madly passionate about making writers out of us. She is continuously finding new ways to keep us from falling off the wagon. Milli very carefully picks up any signs of trouble and she is always ready to extend generous help to get us back on our feet.

Nobody here, including the course presenter, alumni and other students, gives negative feedback about my posts. This is so important for my writer self to come out and play. Probably the only other person who is positively biased about me is my mother.

The courses and Moodle provide a good structure to allow us to focus on the creative bits. Email updates from Moodle get me excited, pressured and at times jealous as if we are in the same classroom. Moodle is clever enough not to show me posts on assignments I am yet to do.

I am looking forward to my writing in my current grad course and in future courses at Unleash Your Writing. I can’t thank my stars enough for finding the Fear of Writing Online Course.
